My pregnancy went really quickly, but during those few months I needed to adjust to the new situation and change my style a bit, cause from obvious reasons I couldn’t wear everything I wanted anymore. However, I didn’t have to give up everything I liked. Below you can find a few tips on what to wear during pregnancy, my top 5 essentials every mom-to-be should have in her wardrobe during summertime. Hope, that it will inspire some of you.
RIBBED ELASTIC DRESS
As I mentioned in this post, I love clothes which are versatile enough to be useful during pregnancy, as well as post pregnancy. Elastic dress is one of those pieces, so you can use it a lot of times and style in a very easy way. This season I prefer ribbed one. You can check also this and this article for inspiration.
Most of us probably have at least one oversized tshirt in a wardrobe, but if you don’t, you should invest in a few (at least in some basic colors, like white, black and grey) when you get pregnant. I wore oversized tees (here and here) during my whole pregnancy and they were good till the end, but of course weren’t so oversized in my 9th month. But now I can still wear them, so it wasn’t just one-time purchase.
LOOSE MINI DRESS
Loose dress is a good choice during your pregnancy for the same reason as an oversized tshirt – you can still wear it post baby. In my opinion it is better to choose a mini version, because in long and loose-fitting dresses, you will look even bigger. For a balanced look, it is good to show bare legs. Check out my outfits here and here.
Many times I mentioned that I try not to buy maternity clothing, because I find it a waste of money. However, I do believe, that maternity jeans are a must, if you still want to wear jeans during your pregnancy. Some women decide to spend their 9-month journey only in dresses, but I actually love wearing jeans, so I needed to buy at least 2 pairs. I recommend you to check especially Topshop and Asos offer, they really have a great choice of maternity jeans in many shapes.
I don’t think that I actually need to explain why wearing comfy shoes is so important during pregnancy. I truly admire women who can wear high heels during this period, especially in their 3rd trimester. I really thought that I could be this kind of woman, but reality verified it quickly. I didn’t even think to wear high heels during my last months. I was swollen almost all the time, especially during hot days and uncomfortable shoes would make the situation even worse, so I literally lived in my Converse, Adidas Stan Smith, sandals from ATP Atelier, loafers from Notabene and wedged espadrilles from Castañer.
